Cartoon

The strongest aspect of my work is the shading. Even with still being new to using photoshop and shading, I think the shading in my work is accurate with light coming from the right. One part of my work that could be improved on is the drawing. I think that if i took more time, I could have made a better drawing. But, with the time I had to finish this project, I didn't have more time.

I think what was easy about this project was the drawing of the cartoon. It was pretty much just like doodling a cartoon. I thought this part was fun because it was just freehand drawing. The hardest part of this project was tracing the drawing in Illustrator. I never used Illustrator until I did the practice sheets. So, understanding how to use it at rust was difficult. But, I eventually got the hang of it.

I demonstrated the objective in this activity by making the shading on the cartoon consistent throughout the whole thing. It appears like the light is coming from the right of the character. The shadows evenly blend and fade also. If I could do this activity again, I would probably just draw a different cartoon. One that is less boring. Maybe I could draw the character doing something in the picture.

Hybrid Animal

The strongest aspect of my work was how i managed to fit the tiger's head smoothly on to the finch's body. I think that the colors are very close to being identical, so the tiger's head does not look like it was sloppily edited on to the bird. An aspect of my work that could be improved on is the pattern on the bird's wing. I wanted to make a tiger pattern on the wings. It worked, but not as smooth or realistic as I had imagined. I think that i could have used a different picture to get the tiger print from. I got the print form a tiger's head so I can understand why it may not fit the bird's wing.

The easy part about this activity was picking two animas to combine. This was easy, I think, because there are endless combinations of which animals to combine. So, even if you randomly picked two animals, there could be a way to combine them. So, I thought that since finches are yellow and tigers wouldn't look very odd being yellow, I chose a tiger and finch. I think what was difficult about this activity was combining the animals to look like they actually belong together. Or else, it would look unrealistic and not well done. So, getting the colors correct and blending certain parts to fit the bird were difficult.

I demonstrated the objective in this activity by smoothly blending the tiger's head on to the finch. I think I did a good job in making the tiger head appear realistic on the finch's head. I combined the two animals also by putting a tiger print on the finch's wing which added another element of combination. If i could do this activity again, I would choose different animals in which I could incorporate more elements of each animal into one animal. Also, I think that if I used different animals, it would be a fun experience.

Digital Painting

I think the strongest aspect of my work is the quality of the figure of the painting. It looks very similar to the reference picture I used, in terms of shape. The shape and detail stands out the most in my opinion. Easily, the aspect I could have improved on was the shading. The shading was the most difficult part I think. I have never used the blending tool before, and it is much harder to smoothly blend colors than I thought it would be.

The easiest part of this activity was drawing the actual picture. It was basically tracing, so it wasn't very difficult. Drawing the picture was much easier than the process of blending and coloring. The difficult part of this activity, even more difficult and time consuming than the blending, was cleaning up and making the painting look complete. Before the cleaning up process, the painting just looked sloppy and unfinished.

I demonstrated the objective in this activity by clearly using the blending tool and trying to execute clean, and smooth blending of colors. Although it didn't work out the best everywhere, smooth blending is easily shown in the face and legs. If i could do this activity again, I would most likely choose a different picture. This picture was a cartoon, so clean and smooth blending isn't usually necessary. However, if I used an animal, or something that didn't look like it came from a comic book, the blending of colors would look better.

Pop Art Project

The strongest aspect of my work was my color choice. I like the way that I made the colors look like they should go together. Even if the colors are very different, The ones that I used look well together, such as the purple and green. One thing I could have improved on is the placement of each of the four panels. I think the monochromatic blue panel would look better next to the panel with the tertiary colors (purple and green). I don't think that the analogous and the monochromatic should be next to each other.

The easy part about this activity was coloring the panels. You could be very creative with it and the task itself of coloring the panels is tedious and fairly simple. All you had to do was use the magic wand to outline which parts you wanted to color. Then, from there, you just continue to do that for each panel. The difficult part about this activity was following the directions. I found them quite confusing at first. However, once I understood what they were saying and what I had to do, the project became much simpler.

I demonstrated the objective in the this art activity by using a monochromatic panel, an analogous panel, a complimentary panel, and a tertiary panel. The monochromatic panel had 3 hues of blue, the analogous panel had orange, red and yellow, The complementary panel had a teal color, an orange color, and a lighter teal, and the last tertiary panel had black, light purple and a lime green.
If I could do this activity again, I might try and use different ways of combining colors. For example, instead of using tertiary colors, I might use secondary colors instead.

Polaroid Project

The strongest aspect of my work is the color scheme I think. i like the way that each polaroid has a different color and that whatever is inside that polaroid is also that color. I think it really divides up the main picture which adds to the effect of there being multiple polaroids with different pieces of the main picture. However the background  piece of art could have been made better. Compared to the quality of the photo, the background doesn't seem to fit.

The easiest part of this activity was that we could place the polaroids wherever we wanted. There was no specific form the polaroids had to take. They could be placed randomly. But, the hardest part about this activity was having layer the polaroids correctly and make them look they they are on top of one another.

I demonstrated the objective in this activity by using polaroids layered on top of one another and using one photo to make it look like the polaroids each contain part of the picture. I erased parts that were not included within the polaroids and made sure there were no polaroids in which you could see another separate polaroid within it. iF i could do this activity again, I would do the background differently. I think that if I made a better background, the work of art, as a whole, would be much more appealing.

Tattoo Project

The strongest aspect of my work is the tattoo itself. I think the design is cool looking. It is tribal looking and i thought it was drawn very well. I think I could have improved on some things however. I thought the drawing was cool, but the execution of making it look like a real tattoo was not done very well. I could have improved on blending the tattoo to the skin and contour of the body.

I think the easy part about this activity was drawing the tattoo because it could be anything we wanted. There was no criteria to meet, for the tattoo itself, so it was simple to make something we liked. the difficult part about this activity was blending the tattoo to the body. It is not easy trying to make a drawing look like a real tattoo on a person.

I demonstrated the objective by trying to warp the tattoo to the arm and blend it to the parts of the body where it was necessary to make darker lighter, or blurred. If I could do this activity again, I would change the placement of the tattoo. I think that the placement of this shaped tattoo just doesn't look right. Also, I would probably spend more time on the dodging, burning, and blurring tools to make the tattoo look more realistic.

Portrait Project

The strongest aspect of my work, I think, was the way that applied certain textures to different images in the project. It make it so the images are less flat and boring. I could probably improve on the placement and layering of my images. To me, the placement doesn't look very good. The layering looks more like a collage than i would have liked it.

The easy part about this activity was that I could use things that I like instead of having to do something I don't enjoy. I could think of anything I like and out it into my project. The difficult part of this project was that we had to layer images and make them look good. It was tough layering certain images and putting them in the right place to make them look good.

I demonstrated the objective in this activity by using filters on the images, using blend modes on some and layering the images. Using all of these elements combined helped bring multiple images together to create a single work of art. If I could to this project over again, I would change the placement of the images and the way I layered them. I might also change the images I used to express myself.

Letter Project

The strongest aspect of my work, i think, is the color scheme that I used. I really like how in the background, the flow of the color goes, somewhat, the opposite way of the letter Ts in the foreground.   I think it makes for something really interesting to look at and makes the Ts really pop out. I think if I had spent a little more time on this project, I could have aligned the letters up better. Using the 3D was a bit tricky, so if i got the hang of it more I could possibly align the Ts up more how i wanted. Also, the angle of the Ts don't seem very consistent and is somewhat off-putting.

I think the easiest part of this activity was the fact that the only thing we could use was one letter from the alphabet. Although you still needed to be creative, It narrowed down our choices which limited what we had to do. However, in contrast to this, I ALSO believe that the hardest aspect of this project was that we could only use one letter. For me, it really caused me to be creative in how I could make an interesting work of art even by only using one letter.

The objective of this art project was to use only one letter from the alphabet and create an appealing work of art. I think i demonstrated this fairly well. In my opinion, The piece has a cool, 3D look to it. Also, the effect of the change in size of the Ts looks appealing. If I could do this project again, I would spend more time on the coloring of the letters. From the yellow Ts in the middle and down, the color change is constant and changes evenly. However, if you go up, the colors do not change as smoothly as the others.
